Type(s) of animal(s) and violence
Goat is tied up and left out as food for a dinosaur. The goat is bleating pitifully and can't get away, and is ultimately eaten by the dinosaur.
Level of Violence
Relatively high -- on-screen and emotionally jarring.
Is the Violence Integral to the Plot and/or Character Development?
Yes.
When Violence Occurs in the Movie
Unknown.
Level of Potential Upset to Viewers
Could be high, although if it is, you probably should not see this movie as it is intended to be frightening overall.
Other
Obviously, animals are killed in this movie
other than the goat. However, this site covers only living animals
in the 20th-21st centuries, and not mythological or long-extinct animals,
so the violence against the dinosaurs is not reviewed here. This
movie got some viewers upset because of the terror expressed by the children
in it as well (in fact, the original screening had one of the children
killed, which outraged the test audience to the point where the scene was
changed). Unless you can take this as pure fantasy, if you are at
all sensitive, you may want to avoid this one.
