Type(s) of animal(s) and violence

Boy hangs dog from leash then shoots it.

Level of Violence

High.

Is the Violence Integral to the Plot and/or Character Development?

The scene occurs after the boy (main character) lost his best friend to gang violence and the dog was that of his late friend. You can say that the intention of the scene was to show that the boy was venting his anger by taking it out on the dog, but it was TOTALLY unwarranted. He could have let the dog go.

When Violence Occurs in the Movie

Towards the middle to end.

Level of Potential Upset to Viewers

Animal lovers will be most upset by this scene, not to mention that I looked in the ending credits of the movie for a disclaimer from the Humane Society, but found none. I have yet to double check this, to see if there really is none.
